The String Cheese Incident Teams With Allman Brothers & Family At Peach Music Festival In 2016

The Peach Music Festival begins today at Montage Mountain in Scranton, Pennsylvania and runs through Sunday with performances from Phil Lesh & The Terrapin Family Band, Gov’t Mule, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, Dickey Betts, Umphrey’s McGee, The Revivalists and moe. among the dozens of sets scheduled to take place. In 2016 The String Cheese Incident was supposed to perform a Gregg Allman Incident set but Gregg’s health issues led him to cancel. SCI rounded up members of The Allman Brothers Band and the group’s extended family for a memorable The Allman Brothers Family Incident set. Audio of the performance is featured as the latest Throwback Thursday selection.

Cheese took the stage with Gregg Allman Band guitarist Scott Sharrard. Sharrard served as musical director and collaborated with SCI on the entire set. Michael Kang dedicated the performance to Gregg, who sadly died the following May. The String Cheese Incident, co-founding ABB drummer Jaimoe and Sharrard opened with “Statesboro Blues.” Then, longtime Allmans percussionist Marc Quiñones joined the fray for “Midnight Rider” ahead of a version of “Trouble No More” featuring Jaimoe, vocalist Lamar Williams Jr. and keyboardist Bruce Katz.

The Allman Brothers Family Incident continued with Katz contributing to “Melissa” and a take on SCI original “Outside & Inside” featuring Quiñones. Cheese brought out former ABB members Butch Trucks, Jack Pearson and Oteil Burbridge to join in “Ain’t Wastin’ Time No More.” Trucks, Pearson and Katz also added to “Quinn The Eskimo” before Butch, Oteil, Jack and Bruce helped out on the “Jessica” finale.
