Sting and his new power trio swung by the Ed Sullivan Theater to serve as the musical guests on Thursday’s episode of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. The legendary bassist led a performance of his new single, “I Wrote Your Name (Upon My Heart),” for the late-night television program.
The Colbert appearance came just days after the start of the North American Sting 3.0 Tour. Sting’s three-piece finds him joined by longtime collaborator Dominic Miller on guitar and drummer Chris Maas.

Martin Kierszenbaum produced and contributed organ to the studio version of Sting’s first new music since his 2021 album The Bridge. Maas provided the “Bo Diddley Beat” at the heart of “I Wrote Your Name (Upon My Heart).”
The song is a throwback to the early days of Sting’s solo career and his time with The Police. “I Wrote Your Name” was debuted live by Sting on June 1, 2024 and has since been a staple of his concerts.
