Spotify Launches The Lot Playlist Featuring Grateful Dead, Phish & Many More

This week, Spotify launched a new official playlist called “The Lot.” Currently comprising 125 tracks, the collection features improvisational rock by the likes of the Grateful Dead, Phish, The Allman Brothers Band, Widespread Panic and many more.

The Lot playlist of “hand-picked kind, tasty jams” includes plenty for Deadheads with several tracks by the Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia Band, along with appearances by Bob Weir (with Wilco) and Phil Lesh (with Communion). There are also selections by Dead & Company and Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, plus Dead covers by Keller Williams, The String Cheese Incident and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.

Phish fans will find plenty of familiar sounds not only from the band but from guitarist Trey Anastasio’s solo output and bassist Mike Gordon’s collaboration with guitarist Leo Kottke. Along with the previously mentioned musicians, The Lot contains recordings by jam scene veterans such as moe., Gov’t Mule, the Disco Biscuits, Dave Matthews Band, Galactic, Umphrey’s McGee, Ween, STS9 and Medeski, Martin & Wood.

Also featured on The Lot are more-recently established jammers like Twiddle, Spafford, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong and Dopapod. There’s also jamgrass from Leftover Salmon, Yonder Mountain String Band and Greensky Bluegrass, funk rock from The Meters, Turkuaz, The New Mastersounds, Soulive, The Greyboy Allstars, Robert Walter’s 20th Congress, Vulfpeck and Lettuce, Americana rock from Tedeschi Trucks Band, Little Feat, My Morning Jacket, Jason Isbell, The Macus King Band, Alabama Shakes, Fleet Foxes (with Wilco) and much more.
