The next chapter of the tale of ficticious metal band Spinal Tap will be told on September 12 with the release of the mockumentary Spinal Tap II: The End Continues in theaters and an accompanying new album through Interscope Records. The trio teamed up with Elton John to re-record their classic “Stonehenge” for a single from the forthcoming LP that was released today.
Spinal Tap II: The End Continues comes 41 years after the beloved 1984 film This Is Spinal Tap first introduced audiences to David St. Hubbins (Michael McKean), Nigel Tufnel (Christopher Guest) and Derek Smalls (Harry Shearer). The new movie picks up the Spinal Tap story as the estranged bandmates are compelled to reunite for one last show. Director Rob Reiner reprises his role as documentary filmmaker Marty Di Bergi.

The sequel’s soundtrack consists of nine new songs and four cuts featured in the original film that have been reimagined over four decades later. In addition to Elton John, The End Continues also includes contributions from Paul McCartney, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood.
“Stonehenge” dates back to This Is Spinal Tap and a memorable scene in which the band erroneously receives an 18-inch version of the monument instead of the 18-foot prop they were expecting. Spinal Tap has since performed the song in a variety of settings. Elton John lends his iconic vocals to the new version.
Spinal Tap’s “Stonehenge” arrived with a video featuring footage from the film. Watch:
