Arizona-based jam quartet Spafford brought their fall tour to Higher Ground in South Burlington, Vermont on Tuesday night. Spafford paid tribute to Tom Petty, who passed away on Monday night, by debuting covers of three of the legendary rocker’s songs as the evening’s encore.
The foursome treated Vermont fans to a pair of four-song sets. Spafford focused on originals throughout the night until they returned for the encore. Up first was a rendition of “Learning To Fly” off Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ 1991 album Into The Great Wide Open. The triple encore continued with a cover of an early Heartbreakers track “Breakdown” from the band’s self-titled debut album. A cover of the Wildflowers hit “You Don’t Know How It Feels” brought the encore and concert to a close.
