Spafford conducted a four-night run at the Public House in the Colorado ski town of Crested Butte over the weekend. The penultimate concert of the band’s Spaffski Tour saw the quartet dust off “Slip and Squander” for the first time in 145 shows.
Spafford kicked off the concert with the relatively rare “Crazy,” which holds an average gap of 52 shows as per SpaffNerds. The band last played the song on January 12, 2023. Following “Funkadelic,” “Double Time” and “Leave The Light On,” Spafford busted out “Slip and Squander.”

Debuted in 2015, “Slip and Squander” remained a staple until its last play previous to Crested Butte, which went down on New Year’s Eve 2022. The Public House performance also saw bassist Jordan Fairless handling the lead vocal duties formerly sung by previous keyboardist Andrew “Red” Johnson.

During setbreak, lyricist Chuck Johnson recited a poem titled “One of These Days.” The second set began musically with “Be Strange” followed by “Dirbath.” The band also included a trio of choice covers in the second set and encore including Pink Floyd’s “Run Like Hell,” The Champs’ “Tequila” and Green Day’s “Longview” for the encore.
