Spafford chose not to blame the frequently cited “unforeseen circumstances” for the decision to cancel their concert scheduled for tomorrow (Wednesday, October 29) at Ace Of Spades in Sacramento, California. The band posted a video of guitarist Brian Moss explaining the situation that led to the show’s cancellation, while encouraging fans to purchase tickets to concerts early whenever possible.

“This week we’re heading into a little bit more uncharted territory,” Moss said. “Particularly, Sacramento is going to take a hit due to low ticket sales. So rather than putting out some bullshit statement saying ‘due to unforeseen circumstances’ — yeah, low ticket sales is unforeseen circumstances — but it’s such a bullshit way to announce something with nobody taking the fault for it.”

Moss went on to state that no single person or entity was at fault for the show being taken off their schedule. He spoke highly of the venue and their transparency while handling the reality of the difficult situation.

“I encourage you all — not only for Stafford but for any band that’s out there — purchasing tickets beforehand is really important to us and allows us to keep the shows that we have budgeted and planned for going,” Moss added. “So let’s just continue to show up and show these bands the love and get those tickets beforehand.”

Spafford plays The Alpine in Reno, Nevada, tonight, Tuesday, October 28. The band then begins a run through California on Thursday, October 30 at Lost on Main in Chico. Spafford will celebrate Halloween on Friday at The Guild Theatre in Menlo Park.
