CAKE, Alvvays and a star-studded tribute to Sly & The Family Stone lead the 2025 Sound Summit lineup. The daylong festival celebrates its 10th anniversary atop the Bay Area’s Mount Tamalpais in Mill Valley on Saturday, September 13.
Sound Summit’s “Stand!” tribute to Sly & The Family Stone will feature Taj Mahal, Narada Michael Walden, Martin Luther McCoy, Vicki Randle, members of Graham Central Station and surprise guests. Real Estate and Wolf Jett round out the bill.

CAKE’s connection to the mountaintop runs deep. They first performed there at 2013’s Mount Tam Jam, the event that inspired producer Michael Nash to launch Sound Summit in 2015.
“We’re looking forward to another eclectic and memorable day on the mountain,” explained Nash. “We thought it would be cool to return to our roots for this benchmark and bring back CAKE to helm the event, and they’re psyched to return. Also, curating this Bay Area celebration of Sly’s legacy with music director Larry Batiste has been particularly joyful. The music and lyrics feel as resonant and topical today as when they were written.”
Proceeds from Sound Summit go towards the upkeep of Mount Tamalpais State Park through the Roots & Branches Conservancy. Performances are held at the Mountain Theater, a historic 4,000-seat natural stone amphitheater atop Mount Tam.
Tickets go on sale this Friday, June 6 at 10 a.m. PT.
