After a six-year wait Soulive announced their first studio recording since 2012’s Spark. The organ-groove-trio will release the EP Cinematics, Vol. 1. on February 23 via their own imprint Soulive Music and have shared the single.
Recorded over the course of two days at drummer Alan Evans’ Iron Wax studio, the five-song release is described as, “A series of soundtracks for the movies of your mind,” with future installments expected to come.
“Film composers like Jerry Goldsmith, David Axelrod, Ennio Morricone and Melvin Van Peebles were all influential in the concept for Cinematics,” guitarist Eric Krasno said. “The idea is to use soundscape and melodic interplay to enhance the feeling and sentiment of a visual and to amplify the emotion that it’s relating.”
