By Scott Bernstein Jul 29, 2019 • 2:12 pm PDT
Scott Sharrard served as musical director for The Peach Music Festival’s Inaugural Guitar Pull set on Sunday afternoon at The Pavilion At Montage Mountain in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Sharrard brought the southern tradition of guitarists trading off turns leading the group to this year’s festival and recruited Jake Cinninger of Umphrey’s McGee, blues guitarist Samantha Fish, youngster , Dopapod‘s Rob Compa, Pennsylvania’s own Steve Kimock and jazz-rock virtuoso Stanley Jordan to participate.
The set started with the core band of Sharrard, his longtime Gregg Allman Band collaborator bassist Brett Bass and drummer Eric Kalb (Eric Krasno Band/Charlie Hunter) for a rendition of Scott’s “Love Like Kerosene.” Sharrard then welcomed Samantha Fish to lead her own “Chills & Fever” and “No Angels.” Next, Jake Cinninger emerged to front a cover of the Grateful Dead’s “They Love Each Other” and Umphrey’s “Booth Love.” Brandon “Taz” Niederauer dueled on “Booth Love” with Cinninger.

Steve Kimock and Rob Compa joined the trio for The Beatles’ classic “Norweigan Wood” before Steve stepped into the spotlight for his original “5B4 Funk.” Stanley Jordan then had a chance to shine on Bob Dylan’s “All Along The Watchtower” and “Red House” by Jimi Hendrix. For the grand finale, Sharrard, Bass and Kalb honored festival founders The Allman Brothers Band with a version of “Southbound” that also featured Fish, Cinninger, Kimock and Jordan.
