In March 1970 Joe Cocker and his 11-member band and 10-person choir stormed the stage at the Fillmore East in New York City for early and late shows on the 27th and 28th. The concerts were recorded and the Mad Dogs & Englishmen double live LP released a few months later captured the collective of musicians lighting up the legendary room. Sadly, Cocker lost his battle to cancer on December 22, 2014 at age 70. In honor of the late great vocalist, this year’s Lockn’ Festival will host a tribute to Cocker dubbed “Mad Dogs & Englishmen.”

Cocker’s Mad Dogs’s bandmate Leon Russell and choir member Rita Coolidge will be on hand at Oak Ridge Farm in Arrington, Virginia along with Tedeschi Trucks Band, Dave Mason, Chris Robinson, Doyle Bramhall II and others to celebrate Cocker’s life and career.

Below is a playlist that combines the three different editions of the original Mad Dogs & Englishmen double album (edited for repeats) issued over the years –the original, deluxe and rarities releases. It’s over 30 songs and two hours in running time of Cocker and his crew charging through a rousing setlist of covers by the likes of Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Leonard Cohen and The Rolling Stones.
