The Who frontman Roger Daltrey has confirmed reports AEG Live/Goldenvoice will host a mega-festival in Indio, California October 7 – 9 featuring rock royalty Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Neil Young, The Who and Roger Waters. The singer confirmed the festival and The Who’s participation to the BBC. “What a great weekend it will be,” Daltrey told BBC 6 Music. “They’re all going to be there, on the one spot, at the one time.”
“It’s amazing really. It’s amazing we’re still here,” Daltrey added along with “I don’t think any of us cares who goes on first. We’ve never worried about that. The music is all so different, that’s not going to matter at all.” Roger went on to tell BBC 6 Music’s Matt Everitt, “We have to face it, we are [at] the end of an era. We’re the last of our generation. You can see from reading the obituaries lately that we [rock stars] don’t make old bones very well, do we?”
An official announcement of the festival isn’t expected for a few weeks according to the Toronto Sun. The historic festival would take place at Empire Polo Field in Indio, California, the site of Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival and Phish’s Festival 8. The six Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductees have never shared the same bill together and it would also mark the first time Dylan and McCartney would be in the same lineup. The Rolling Stones and Dylan are said to be scheduled for October 7, while McCartney and Neil Young + Promise Of The Real are slated for October 8 and Waters and The Who will close out on October 9.
