The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame confirmed Busta Rhymes, Dr. Dre, Demi Lovato, Dua Lipa, Ella Mai, James Taylor, Jelly Roll, Julia Roberts, Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, Lucky Daye, Mac McAnally, Method Man, Roger Daltrey, Sammy Hagar, Slash and The Roots will help induct and celebrate the institution’s Class of 2024. Each presenter and performer will participate in the ceremony at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland on October 19.
Dave Matthews Band, Cher, Mary J. Blige, A Tribe Called Quest, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Kool & The Gang and Ozzy Osbourne are this year’s entrants in the performer category. The Rock Hall will honor Jimmy Buffett, Dionne Warwick, Norman Whitfield and MC5 with the Musical Excellence Award, while blues greats Big Mama Thornton, Alexis Korner and John Mayall will be feted with the Musical Influence Award and Suzanne de Passe will receive the Ahmet Ertegun Award.
Certain connections between those announced today and the Rock Hall’s Class of 2024. Longtime DMB fan Julia Roberts starred in the 2005 video for the band’s song “Dreamgirl.” Additionally, Mac McAnally was Buffett’s musical director and member of his Coral Reefer Band, Busta Rhymes spit a verse in ATCQ’s hit single “Scenario” and Roger Daltrey came up through the ranks of British music right behind Korner and Mayall.
Class of 2024 inductees Mary J. Blige, Cher, Dave Matthews Band, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Kool & The Gang and Dionne Warwick will each perform at the ceremony. Ozzy Osbourne and A Tribe Called Quest have yet to confirm they will take the stage in Cleveland next month. John Mayall died at age 90 back in July. Korner and Thornton passed in 1984 and Whitfield died in 2008.
The induction ceremony can be streamed live via Disney+ on October 19 at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT. ABC will air an edited three-hour prime-time special on New Year’s Day.
