Robert Randolph Performs National Anthem For NASCAR Cup Series

By Scott Bernstein Jul 13, 2020 7:28 am PDT

Sacred steel specialist Robert Randolph was tapped to perform the National Anthem on Sunday before the NASCAR race. Randolph’s version of “The Star-Spangled Banner” aired on Fox Sports 1 ahead of the race at the Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, Kentucky.

Robert played the anthem from home in keeping with social distancing guidelines put in place due to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. Randolph dressed for the occasion by wearing a checkered jacket with a design similar to the flag marking the end of a race. NASCAR Cup Series rookie Cole Custer took home the victory on Sunday.
