Rilo Kiley Plays 1st Concert Since 2008: Setlist & Videos

Rilo Kiley officially ended a 17-year hiatus last night by kicking off their reunion tour with a concert at the Fremont Theater in San Luis Obispo, California. The setlist for the acclaimed quartet’s first public performance since 2008 included material from all four of their full-length studio albums.

The band consisting of frontwoman Jenny Lewis, guitarist Blake Sennett, bassist Pierre de Reeder and drummer Jason Boesel opened with “The Execution Of All Things,” the title track of their sophomore LP. The 2002 record was also represented in the setlist by “Spectacular Views,” “Paints Peeling,” “With Arms Outstretched” and “A Better Son/Daughter.”

Rilo Kiley looked to their debut album, 2001’s Take Offs & Landings, for the “Wires & Waves” that filled the two-slot. The group later said farewell with “Pictures Of Success,” the only other song from the LP played during the concert at the Fremont Theater. Additionally, the band performed six cuts featured on 2004’s More Adventurous and four off their most recent album, 2007’s Under The Blacklight, along with early single “The Frug.”

Lewis & Co. sprinkled More Adventurous numbers “I Never,” “It’s A Hit,” “Does He Love You?,” “Ripchord” and “Portions For Foxes” into their main set. The album’s “A Man/Me/Then Jim” was part of a three-song encore that also included the aforementioned “Frug” and “Pictures Of Success.” Rounding out the night were “Silver Lining,” “The Moneymaker,” “Dreamworld” and “Close Call” from Under The Blacklight.
