Remi Wolf couldn’t contain her excitement to perform her own set for NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert video series. The “so fucking happy” Wolf, who did make a cameo with Kenny Beats last year, focused on material from her excellent new album, Big Ideas and told the small crowd gathered at NPR Music HQ in Washington D.C., “I’ve been watching Tiny Desk since I was a little, tiny 15-year old child and truly what a blessing! I’m going to cry.”
The California native known for her chameleonic music that pulls from a diverse array of influences was sporting a Grateful Dead t-shirt as she worked through four Big Ideas cut and a song off 2021’s Juno. Wolf was accompanied by her band — drummer Conor Malloy, guitarist Alex Pachino and Matt Horton, keyboardist Anna Bettendorf, percussionist Zev Shearn-Nance and longtime bassist Maddie Jay.

Remi Wolf kicked off the set with Big Ideas single “Toro.” She then performed the album’s “Alone In Miami,” complete with its IYKYK references to crypto bros, pop stars sliding into her DMs and buying cocaine.
“I am a person that really gets bored of my own music, so we have kind of turned the song into something else,” Wolf said in introducing a reworked bossa nova-tinged version of Juno standout “Sexy Villain.” Remi Wolf went on to introduce “Motorcycle” as a song in which she put the “struggle and duality” in her mind of whether she’ll be the “batshit insane version” of herself or have a “normal” life that includes motherhood through the lens of cruising around L.A. on a chopper.
Remi Wolf wrapped the set with the captivating “Pitiful,” a “song about drinking too much wine.” Watch Wolf’s Tiny Desk Concert below:
