The late great Johnny Cash was born on this day in Arkansas in 1932. Cash went on to become a musical legend whose music mixed country, rock, blues and gospel themes over the course of his illustrious career before he passed away in 2003. The Man In Black is behind such incredible tunes as “I Walk The Line,” “Folsom Prison Blues” and “Don’t Take Your Guns To Town” as well as popularized “A Boy Named Sue” and “Ring Of Fire.”

One of the best guides to Johnny Cash’s legendary career came in the form of a 2004 BBC documentary titled Johnny Cash -The Last Great American. Contributors include his daughter, Rosanne Cash, and son, John Carter Cash as well as Johnny’s long-time manager, Lou Robin and a bevy of fellow musicians such as Little Richard, Cowboy Jack Clement, Kris Kristofferson, Merle Haggard and Elvis Costello. Producers had unprecedented access to Cash’s archives.
