R.E.M., King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard and Courtney Barnett contributed to the 90-track compilation, Good Music To Lift Los Angeles, with 100% of its proceeds going to Los Angeles wildfire recovery efforts. Dawes, whose sibling members Taylor Goldsmith and Griffin Goldsmith lost their homes in the Eaton fire, also provided a recording for the benefit comp.
California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Recovery Fund and the LA Regional Food Bank will receive proceeds from Good Music To Lift Los Angeles. The Bandcamp-exclusive release will be available for 24 hours starting Friday, February 7 at 12 p.m. PT. Bandcamp will donate 100% of its portion of sales from the compilation to MusiCares wildfire relief.
The cover art for Good Music To Lift Los Angeles was made by the Altadena, California-based artist Cleon Peterson, who also lost his home and studio in the devastating Eaton fire.
The compilation features previously unreleased recordings, including new song premieres, covers, remixes, demos and live tracks, such as The Postal Service and Death Cab for Cutie’s live cover of Depeche Mode’s “Enjoy the Silence.”
