Regina Spektor and Jakob Dylan unveiled their cover of Love’s “No Matter What You Do” from the Echo In The Canyon soundtrack. Later this week, the Echo In The Canyon documentary will be released, with the film focusing on the Laurel Canyon, California music scene from 1965–67, which featured artists like The Beach Boys and Buffalo Springfield. The project’s soundtrack is due out on May 24 via BMG.

Love’s “No Matter What You Do” was originally recorded for the group’s 1966 self-titled release. Featuring Spektor and Dylan switching off on lead vocals and offering up sweet harmonies, the rendition captures the energy of the era, while easing off the prominent low-end featured in the original track.

“No Matter What You Do” follows up the soundtrack’s lead single, which featured Dylan teaming with Jade Castrinos for a rendition of The Mamas & The Papas’ 1965 debut single, “Go Where You Wanna Go.” The rest of the album sports an impressive lineup, with artists like Beck, Neil Young, Fiona Apple, Josh Homme, Norah Jones and others offering their takes on classic late ’60s numbers.

Later, Dylan and Castrinos will perform their take on “Go Where You Wanna Go” on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

On Thursday, May 23, a special red-carpet event and screening will be hosted at Los Angeles’ Arclight Cinerama Dome. Following the viewing, Dylan, Castrinos, Stephen Stills and Cat Power, all of whom are featured on the soundtrack, will perform a show highlighting the music of The Beach Boys, The Mama & The Papas and Buffalo Springfield. There will also be a number of special guest performances after this weekend’s public showings at Arclight and the Landmark Theater on May 24–26.
