Reed Mathis and Electric Beethoven will release the long-awaited double album Hear No Evil next Friday, December 16 via Color Red digitally as well as on vinyl and CD. Mathis will be joined by drummer Jay Lane and keyboardist Brian Haas for a release show at The Chapel in San Francisco on January 21, 2023.
Hear No Evil was previewed with a monthly release series that started in January and saw seven tracks issued leading up the album’s arrival next week. Mathis and a core band of Todd Stoops (keys), Clay Welch (guitar) and Josh Raymer (drums) recorded the album at Color Red Studios in Denver. Other contributors included Jason Hann (percussion), Karl Denson (sax), Scott Flynn (trombone), Drew Sayers (sax), Jonny Jyemo (drums), Ryan Jalbert (guitar) and Dan Africano (bass). Michal Menert, Sidecar Tommy, Taye Meyulks and Combsy each remixed tracks.

Reed formed the “CDM” (Classical Dance Music) project in 2016 to reinvent Ludwig van Beethoven’s compositions. 2016’s Beathoven was the debut Electric Beethoven album. Maps We Found On The Ground followed the next year with Color Red releasing a series of singles in 2019.
Mathis, Lane and Haas will perform a version of the Hear No Evil album at The Chapel on January 21, 2023. “Not only will the tunes + the improv be off the hook, but also this would be a fantastic time for you to show up and support me & my music mission – we will have ourselves a throw down,” wrote Reed. Lighting will be provided by Mad Alchemy Liquid Light Show.
