Red Hot Chili Peppers brought their tour to Boston’s Fenway Park for a concert on Saturday night. Guitarist John Frusciante led a solo cover of “Danny’s Song,” which appeared on the 1971 debut album by Loggins & Messina — the duo made up of Kenny Loggins and Jim Messina.
Saturday’s setlist featured four tracks off the recently released studio album, Unlimited Love, with frontman Anthony Kiedis leading the group on “Aquatic Mouth Dance,” “Black Summer,” “The Heavy Wing” and “These Are the Ways.” The concert began with a bassist Flea anchoring a jam that led into “Around the World” off 1999’s Californication. The main set ended with “Give It Away” off 1991’s Blood Sugar Sex Magik. The encore consisted of the Blood Sugar Sex Magik favorite “Under The Bridge” and the title track to their 2002 album, By The Way.
With light accompaniment from drummer Chad Smith, watch Frusciante helm a cover of “Danny’s Song” by Loggins & Messina, and other footage from Saturday at Fenway, below:
