Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Anthony Kiedis Discusses Health Condition

As reported, Red Hot Chili Peppers recently had to cancel two concert appearances due to an illness suffered by frontman Anthony Kiedis. In a recent interview, the vocalist offered an update on his current condition and further explained the cause of the recent scrapped performances.
“I’m on the mend,” Kiedis told ET Canada in an exclusive interview, adding he felt “good, not great, but good.”
After reportedly suffering “extreme stomach pain,” RHCP were forced to cancel their appearance last weekend at the KROQ Weenie Roast after Kiedis was taken to the hospital. A subsequent iHeartRadio gig this week was postponed as well. Kiedis told ET Canada he had suffered a bout with an intestinal virus that was complicated due to scar tissue he has from past hernia operations.
“I think I had to get sick to take a look at myself and get to the causes and conditions of my overall health,” said Kiedis. “It was a painful and sad thing to have to cancel shows, we don’t really do that, I’d rather play deathly ill than not at all – but in this particular instance I was starting to go down – as in: to the ground. So, I got rushed to the hospital. I got some help and now I’ve got to figure things out.”
