Real Estate Releases ‘Really Beautiful’ Cover Of Elton John’s ‘Daniel’

Real Estate shared a cover of the Elton John classic “Daniel.” The studio recording comes on the heels of Real Estate debuting the cover at their “Only Dans” show in New York City to celebrate the release of their 2024 album, Daniel.

Real Estate’s Daniel Tashian-produced album Daniel arrived on February 23 via Domino Recording Co. That same day the band performed at Rough Trade NYC where they unveiled the cover of Elton John’s “Daniel” to an audience full of people named Daniel.

The “really beautiful” cover caught Elton’s attention. He subsequently spoke with Real Estate guitarist Martin Courtney about the nod on his Apple Music Rocket Hour show and also praised Daniel track “Flowers.” Watch a clip below:

Real Estate kept “Daniel” in their live repertoire as they toured around their new record this year. The band — Courtney, guitarist Julian Lynch, bassist Alex Bleeker, keyboardist Matt Kallman and drummer Sammi Niss — performed Daniel cuts as well as the Elton John cover Live on KEXP, which hit the web in May. Now, the band has released a studio rendition of “Daniel.” Listen below:
