Singer-songwriter Ray LaMontagne released “Long Way Home,” the title track from his forthcoming studio album. Long Way Home is due on August 16 via LaMontagne’s new Liula Records imprint.

Ray LaMontagne previously shared Long Way Home lead single “Step Into Your Power.” The nine-track LP will be the musician’s first new full-length album since 2020’s MONOVISION. LaMontagne produced the record in conjunction with Seth Kauffman (Floating Action, Angel Olsen, Lana Del Ray) and enlisted The Secret Sisters to contribute backing vocals to the album’s first three tracks.

When Ray LaMontagne was 21, he caught a Townes Van Zandt concert at a small club in Minneapolis. LaMontagne was taken by the lyric “When here you been is good an gone, all you keep is the getting there” from Van Zandt’s “To Live Is To Fly” song. The line continues to stick with Ray who recalled how the lyric inspired Long Way Home.

“Thirty years later it occurs to me that every song on Long Way Home is in one way or another honoring the journey. The languorous days of youth and innocence. The countless battles of adulthood, some won, more often lost. It’s been a long hard road, and I wouldn’t change a minute. It took me nine songs to express what Townes managed to say in one line. I guess I still got a lot to learn.”
