Railroad Earth Welcomes Billy Strings In Chicago

By Scott Bernstein Mar 26, 2017 7:35 am PDT

Northern New Jersey jamgrass band Railroad Earth continued a run through the Midwest featuring support from Billy Strings on Saturday night. RRE and Billy Strings and his band played the famed Vic Theatre in Chicago, where Billy wound up sitting in with the jamgrass stalwarts.

The evening opened with a set from Billy Strings and his backing band. Railroad Earth then took the stage for their first of two sets. After opening with “Elko” and “Mission Man,” RRE worked such gems “as “Dandelion Wine,” “The Cuckoo” and “Bird In A House” into their first set. Strings emerged during Railroad Earth’s second set to add to “RV” and “Birds Of America.” The band went on to finish the closing stanza with “Mighty River,” “The Berkeley Flash” and “Chasin’ A Rainbow” before saying farewell with a “Peace On Earth” encore.

Railroad Earth and Billy Strings play The Vogue in Indianapolis on Monday night.
