Railroad Earth :: 01.27-29.17 :: The Fillmore :: San Francisco, CA

New Jersey-based jamgrass outfit Railroad Earth held court over three nights at The Fillmore in San Francisco last weekend. Friday’s concert featured an opening set by the Jon Stickley Trio and two members of the group – Stickley on guitar and Lindsay Pruett on violin – were brought back during RRE’s headlining set. Pruett added to “Fisherman’s Blues” while Stickley sat-in on “Stillwater Getaway.” Saturday’s action began with Hot Buttered Rum taking the stage at The Fillmore ahead of Railroad Earth’s two sets. ALO frontman Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz emerged to add guitar to the first set closing combo “Luxury Liner” and “Hangtown Ball.” Lebo came back in set two for “1759” -> “Goat,” “Elko” and “Way Of The Buffalo.” He also joined in on the “Strawberry Letter 23” encore that also featured HBR’s Erik Yates on flute. Sunday’s finale kicked off with opener’s Poor Man’s Whiskey before two more sets of RRE. Papa Phil Kalstrom was treated to a second set “Happy Birthday To You” followed by his joining the Railroad Earth debut cover of Steve Goodman’s “City Of New Orleans.” Photographer Susan Weiand was at The Fillmore, view her gallery below.
