Purple Hatter’s Ball Announces 2016 Action Day, Thursday Pre-Party & More

The ninth annual Purple Hatter’s Ball music festival will take place at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida on June 17 – 19. Benefiting the nonprofit The Rachel Morningstar Foundation, which was founded for remembrance of Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park friend and music festival lover Rachel Morningstar Hoffman, additional details regarding this year’s event including a Thursday Pre-Party and the lineups for the Silent Disco and the Beach Stage.

Purple Hat Productions also revealed an action day led by The Polish Ambassador on Thursday, June 16 built around participation in three regenerative projects with a free Thursday night Pre-Party featuring Sunsquabi, Savi Fernandez Birthday Band, Space Kadet and Gypsy Elise open to those who participate. Thursday’s projects are being organized in conjunction with The Polish Ambassador’s ActionDays.us platform and includes the following three activities:

Project 1: Restore and prepare garden areas to plant a Food Forest that will nourish the land and people for generations to come.

Project 2: Build multi-purpose Waste Management Stations that reduce the amount of waste, energy, and resources consumed by inefficient disposal practices.

Project 3: Learn about Soil Testing (what is in the dirt, and is it good for you?), Mycoremediation (mushrooms that clean it up!), Permaculture (how plants, animals, and people interact together) and more.

Among those revealed to be playing day sets late night Silent Disco sets at the Beach Stage along the Suwannee River were Vlad the Inhaler, Sir Charles, Elliot Mess and Combustible.

Performers at this year’s festival also include Papadosio, Melvin Seals & JGB, Earphunk, The Floozies, The Polish Ambassador, DubConscious, The Mantras, Roosevelt Collier Band, The Hip Abduction, and drummer Allen Aucoin of the Disco Biscuits will appear with MZG for a live band set. Attendees can take advantage of the park’s many activities such as swimming, canoeing, kayaking, biking and disc golf. A PHB tradition will continue when Rachel’s loving mother, Margie Weiss (aka Mama Margie), heads a moving ceremony celebrating her daughter’s life. Each year they set free 24 monarch butterflies – 23 to represent Rachel’s age when she died and one for her continuing spirit.
