The reports are true, members of Rage Against The Machine, Public Enemy and Cypress Hill have come together to form new supergroup Prophets Of Rage. The band featuring Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello, Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk and frontmen B-Real of Cypress Hill and Chuck D of Public Enemy as well as DJ Lord will make their live debut tonight.
Prophets Of Rage will perform live this evening at the Whisky A Go-Go in Los Angeles, where they are expected to perform songs from Rage Against The Machine, Cypress Hill and Public Enemy, plus new material. “We’re not a supergroup,” Tom Morello told Rolling Stone. “We’re an elite task force of revolutionary musicians determined to confront this mountain of election year bullshit, and confront it head-on with Marshall stacks blazing.”
For now, tonight’s gig is the only confirmed concert for Prophets Of Rage but don’t be surprised if more performances are announced. “We’ll see what July and August holds. All I know is rehearsals are taking place and they’re hard. After the rehearsals, the shows are easy. This is like the Chicago Bulls when they’re in practice. By the time you get to the game? Fuck, man. The game is easy. You can beat anybody,” Chuck D said.
