According to a report from Amplify, Prophets Of Rage will be a new band featuring Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello, Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk and frontmen B-Real of Cypress Hill and Chuck D of Public Enemy. If the report holds true, Rage Against The Machine frontman Zack de la Rocha will not be involved with the project. Amplify’s post says Prophets Of Rage will perform songs from Public Enemy, Cypress Hill and Rage Against The Machine. The publication’s sources says touring details for Prophets Of Rage are currently being finalized.
Rockers Rage Against The Machine haven’t performed since 2011, but the band is clearly up to something as they have launched a new website at ProphetsOfRage.com. While the website is currently overloaded, when it could be accessed it displayed a countdown timer set to expire on June 1. With the U.S. presidential campaign set to hit overdrive, this could be the perfect time for the politically-charged act’s comeback.
When users input their email address on ProphetsOfRage.com they are greeted by the image below. You’ll notice a reference to “clear the way to the prophets of rage,” which is a lyric from Public Enemy’s “Prophets Of Rage.” Then there’s the hashtag “#TakeThePowerBack” which alludes to the name of a Rage song.

As Pitchfork points out, it appears Public Enemy or at least Chuck D is involved as Chuck tweeted out a link to a live Rage Against The Machine video from 2010 last night:
There’s also been reports of Prophets Of Rage posters hung in L.A.:
Stay tuned!
