A new film is reported in the development stage that would focus on the relationship between late The Beatles founding member John Lennon and his widow Yoko Ono. The film is set to be produced by Michael De Luca who is working with Ono on the project.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Anthony McCarten will write and produce the currently untitled film. Josh Bratman of Immersive Pictures is also reportedly on board.
“The story will focus on ripe and relevant themes of love, courage and activism in the U.S. — with the intention of inspiring today’s youth to stand up for and have a clear vision for the world they want,” De Luca told The Hollywood Reporter. “I am also honored and privileged to be working with Yoko Ono, Anthony McCarten and Josh Bratman to tell the story of two amazing global icons.”
Lennon and Ono first met in the mid-1960s and married in 1969. The two collaborated on music and were staunch anti-war activists – which will also be depicted in the upcoming feature film. Lennon and Ono had a son, Sean Ono Lennon, prior to John’s murder in December 1980.
