Pro-Shot Video: Trey Anastasio Band Honors Mass Shooting Victims With ‘Over The Rainbow’ In Las Vegas

As reported, Trey Anastasio brought the Trey Anastasio Band back on the road to start fall tour with two shows at Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas on Friday and Saturday nights. TAB’s tour and Friday night concert began with an emotional tribute to the vicitims of an October 1 mass shooting in Las Vegas and pro-shot video of the show-opener has surfaced.
Here’s what JamBase wrote about how the tour started:
Trey and the horn section of Jennifer Hartswick, Natalie Cressman and James Casey stepped to the front of the stage without their instrumentals. The foursome delivered a moving a capella rendition of the ballad “Over The Rainbow” by Harold Arlen/Yip Harburg that was written for The Wizard Of Oz. Anastasio held a candle during the heart-warming opening. While “Over The Rainbow” was a TAB debut, Phish has performed the song a number of times including solo Theremin versions by Page McConnell and a pretty rendition connecting “Waste” and “You Enjoy Myself” at an August 9, 1998 show best remembered as the night the quartet played “Terrapin Station.”
