Pro-Shot Video: Nels Cline Debuts ‘Lovers (For Philadelphia)’

Earlier this year Nels Cline presented Lovers (For Philadelphia), a sprawling instrumental suite that was commission by Philadelphia’s Ars Nova Workshop. The guitarist teamed with the organization for a “yearlong journey to explore Philadelphia’s extraordinary musical legacy and landscape, not only artistically but in the context of Philadelphia’s long history of innovation.”

The collaboration came to its culmination when Cline debuted Lovers (For Philadelphia) back in June at Philly’s Union Transfer. The one-time-only performance that saw the Wilco guitarist aided by a full orchestra was captured by NPR’s Jazz Night In America and can be watched below:
