The 2017 Lockn’ Festival came to a close with a set from The Avett Brothers that saw the group joined by special guest Bob Weir. Earlier today, Lockn’ organizers shared pro-shot video featuring a highlight of the Bobby/Avetts collaboration.

Bob Weir wound up performing eight songs with The Avett Brothers at last August’s Lockn’ Festival. The Grateful Dead/Dead & Company guitarist collaborated with The Avetts on “Mission In The Rain,” “Go To Sleep,” “The Race Is On,” “Mama Tried,” “Going Down The Road Feelin’ Bad” and “When I Paint My Masterpiece” to end the North Carolina-based band’s main set on August 27, 2017. Bobby then returned to join The Avett Brothers for an encore of “I Know You Rider” and “I Shall Be Released.”

Lockn’ posted video of the “I Shall Be Released” finale on the festival’s Facebook page. Fiddle player Tania Elizabeth provided lead vocals for most of the Bob Dylan cover. Bobby also handled one of the verses.
