Singer-songwriter Steve Earle was the featured performer at a private benefit concert held at the Haight Street Arts Center (HSAC) in San Francisco to raise funds for the Blue Bear School Of Music. Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir emerged in the middle of Earle’s set to help out on four songs to close out the program.

The Haight Street Arts Center is a new print shop and gallery dedicated to rock poster art. Earle was in town for a pair of performances at this weekend’s Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival. Steve began with a solo acoustic rendition of his own “Copperhead Road.” The set at HSAC featured a mix of live performances and interviews with hosts Renee and Irish Greg. Earle followed “Copperhead Road” with a newer original, “Goodbye Michelangelo.” Steve then talked about his relationship with both Tom Petty and the members of the Heartbreakers.

Weir emerged in the middle of the set to help out Steve Earle on “The Devil’s Right Hand” and “City Of Immigrants.” Bobby then spoke about his role as the United Nations Goodwill Ambassador. The set rolled on with Earle and Weir performing the Grateful Dead classic “Friend Of The Devil” before the pair ended the program with the traditional “I Know You Rider.”
