Pro-Shot | Phish Works “What’s The Use?” Into “Weekapaug Groove”
By Scott Bernstein Jan 2, 2016 • 9:53 am PST
Three shows into the four-night Phish run at Madison Square Garden in New York City and the delightful “Weekapaug Groove” > “What’s The Use?” > “Weekapaug Groove” the foursome ended the first night’s second set with still stands as one of its best moments. The band has shared professionally-shot footage of the entire sequence for our viewing pleasure.
We get to watch as guitarist Trey Anastasio settles in on the main riff from the Siket Disc instrumental and his mates quickly follow along. The energy from the “Weekapaug” infuses the start of “What’s The Use?,” but the quartet soon fully engages at the song’s typical speed. Once Phish is finished with “WTU?” Fishman kicks back into the “Weekapaug” beat. Anastasio leads another charge at the jam before the magnificent 16-minute sequence concludes complete with “What’s The Use?” and “Auld Lang Syne” teasing. Watch:
