Remembering Prince: Performing ‘Let’s Go Crazy’ Live With The Revolution In 1985

Prince sadly died on this date in 2016. The iconic artist left the world with a vault of music and one of the most famous recordings appears on the Syracuse Live 1985 box set, due out on June 3, 2022. There was never an era where Prince didn’t excel, but “Let’s Go Crazy” live with The Revolution in 1985 in Syracuse, New York is certainly a highlight that shines in a constellation.

“Let’s Go Crazy” opens up Prince’s landmark 1984 album Purple Rain. The danceable song became a live stape as well. On March 30, 1985, Prince and The Revolution brought the hit to the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, New York.

“James Brown had the Apollo. Jimi Hendrix had Monterey Pop. And Prince had Syracuse, New York’s Carrier Dome,” as per the notes accompanying the video. “The March 30, 1985 Purple Rain Tour stop that was beamed to millions live via satellite and captured for posterity in the Grammy Award-nominated concert film Prince and The Revolution: Live. For the first time, this powerful performance by Prince and The Revolution has been remixed from the original 2” multitrack master reels and the film has been digitally enhanced onto Blu-ray video with selectable stereo, 5.1 surround and Dolby Atmos sound.”
