Polyrhythmics posted pro-shot video of their “Bad Girls” cover featuring vocalist Adryon de Leon (Orgone, Matador! Soul Sounds) from their recent New Year’s Eve concert at Portland, Oregon’s Aladdin Theater. The Seattle-based eight-piece presented a show dubbed Bridgetown Boogie on December 31, 2022 that included appearances from de León as well as original percussionist Lalo Bello.

Adryon de León initially emerged with the psych-funk octet for the horn-driven and funky take on the Donna Summer 1979 hit to close out the evening’s first set. de León came back out halfway through the second set on New Year’s Eve for covers of Chaka Khan’s “You Got The Love” and Cheryl Lynn’s “Got To Be Real.” Polyrhythmics then went sans Adryon for “Labrador,” one of the band’s earliest tunes. The vocalist returned to help the band ring in 2023 with a take on Teena Marie’s “Can’t You Do It” as well as the ensuing Diana Ross classic “I’m Coming Out” while balloons dropped for the venue’s ceiling.

Polyrhythmics begin a run of three shows supporting Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe on January 25 in Bend, Oregon. The band then embarks on Jam Cruise 19 next month.
