Playing For Change, a multimedia company, aims to inspire, connect and bring peace to the world through music. The organization’s co-founder, Mark Johnson, realized that while each culture has its own language, musicians from around the world can connect using the common language of music. Playing For Change will issue their fourth and most ambitious album to date, Listen To The Music, on April 20 through Motéma Music. Today, JamBase is pleased to premiere the video for Listen To The Music track “Everlasting Arms” featuring musicians from around the world including Dr. John.

As per Playing For Change’s usual m.o., each of the artists who contributed to “Everlasting Arms” were filmed recording their parts against scenic backdrops in their home countries, a process that took roughly three years to realize. “In a world with so many divisions, we need to create connections. Musical collaboration is the best way to make that happen,” said Johnson, who has traveled the world to capture each and every video as part of the series. “No matter how many things in life divide us, they’re just not as strong as the power of music to bring us together. This is music for the world and for the people, and that’s why our project involves so much diversity. It’s really about putting together a context where all these different people around the world can come together in harmony.”

Pablo Hopenhayn of Argentina, Esther Rose and Luke Winslow-King of New Orleans, Roberto Luti of Anguilla, Darius James of Dominica, Hattiesburg’s Vasti Jackson & Roots Gospel Voices Of Mississippi, Guiseppe Venezia and Luciano Damiani of Italy and Venice Beach’s The California Feetwarmers are among the musicians who joined Dr. John in recording the uplifting “Everlasting Arms.”
