Pink Talking Fish Covers ‘Dazed & Confused’ At Drive-In Concert
Pink Talking Fish took the stage at Jericho Drive In in Glenmont, New York on Friday night. The band’s two-and-a-half hour set was followed by a screening of the 1993 film Dazed & Confused. PTF fittingly worked a cover of the Led Zeppelin-popularized “Dazed & Confused” into their performance.
Friday’s Pink Talking Fish set featured the band’s usual mix of songs from the Phish, Pink Floyd and Talking Heads’ repertoires with “Dazed & Confused” thrown in for good measure. The quartet kicked off the evening with a run of Phish’s “Simple” followed by Pink Floyd’s “Happiest Days Of Our Lives”/”Another Brick In The Wall Part 2” and Talking Heads’ “This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody).”
Up next was “Rift” before PTF jammed “Have A Cigar” into “And She Was” ahead of “Reba.” Then, the four-piece segued from “Wish You Were Here” by Pink Floyd into Talking Heads’ “Moon Rocks.” From there, Pink Talking Fish presented a take on Phish’s “Theme From The Bottom” that included Floyd classics “Us & Them” and “Any Colour You Like” within. “Crosseyed & Painless” gave way to a set-closing “David Bowie” > “Dazed & Confused” > “David Bowie” sequence.
Keyboardist Richard James handled lead vocals on PTF’s “Dazed & Confused.” The band next performs live on the rooftop of Nectar’s in Burlington, Vermont for a limited-capacity set of shows on October 16.
