Neko Case returns with her first album in seven years, Neon Grey Midnight Green, on September 26 via ANTI- Records. The acclaimed singer-songwriter previewed the album with the single, “Wreck.”
Following 2018’s Hell-On, Neon Grey Midnight Green was self-produced by Neko Case, who identifies as gender fluid.

“There are so few producers who are women, nonbinary, or trans,” she said. “People don’t think of us as an option. I’m proud to say I produced this record. It is my vision. It is my veto power. It is my taste.”
Sessions mostly took place with Case’s band at her Vermont studio Carnassial Sound. Additional recording went down in Denver with the PlainsSong Chamber Orchestra and in Portland, Oregon with Tucker Martine.
The first taste from the 12-track Neon Grey Midnight Green is “Wreck,” which “is an exploration of the soul-shattering feeling that is finding love with another fallible human being,” as per press materials for the album.
