Pigeons Playing Ping Pong and Dogs In A Pile brought their fall tour to The Observatory North Park in San Diego on Saturday. The penultimate show of the treksaw the bands teaming up for a cover of the Grateful Dead’s “Eyes of the World” to close PPPP’s second set.

The “Eyes” performance marked the first time Pigeons had played the Wake Of The Flood classic since April 25, 2021 at Ardmore Music Hall near Philadelphia. PPPP debuted “Eyes” in 2015 and the song has seen between roughly one to two plays a year, as per SetlistFM stats. Pigeons kicked off their first set with a three-song seamless sequence of “Sail On,” “Move Like That” and “Twitch.” A pairing of “Somethin’ For Ya” and “Time To Ride” then preceded “Fall In Place.” PPPP welcomed Dogs In A Pile keyboardist Jeremy Kaplan for “King Kong” which encompassed a cover of Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours” to close the first frame.

The second set began with another three-song seamless affair of “Penguins,” “Funkijam” and “F.U.” “Underworld,” “Fun In Funk” and “High As Five” followed ahead of the “Eyes” team up with DIAP. PPPP returned to encore with “Doc” and “Avalanche.”
