Pigeons Playing Ping Pong Welcome Billy Strings At Peach Music Festival

Pigeons Playing Ping Pong hit The Pavilion At Montage Mountain in Scranton, Pennsylvania on Thursday night to help get The Peach Music Festival 2019 underway. The Baltimore-based funk four-piece would play two sets: one ahead of The String Cheese Incident as well as a late-night set after SCI. The band welcomed singer-songwriter and guitar picker Billy Strings during their first set.
PPPP kicked off the first set with “Funk E Zekiel” followed by “Fortress.” “Melting Lights” then led into “Offshoot.” Billy Strings would join the band on “Burning Up My Time.” PPPP continued on with new song “Water” for just the third time since its debut in May. The band then sandwiched Talking Heads’ “Psycho Killer” — last time played on October 6, 2018 — between “Poseidon” to close out the first set.
The late-night set got going with “The Liquid,” “High As Five” and “Avalanche” ahead of a continuous block featuring The Beatles’ “While My Guitar Gently Weeps,” “Say Cheese,” “Penguins,” “Funkijam” and “Upfunk.” Up next was “Somethin For Ya,” “Distant Times” and “Horizon.” “Yo Soy Fiesta” would then lead into “King Kong” before PPPP closed out the set with “Ocean Flows.”
