Phish Shows Off New Light Rig & Jon Fishman Unveils Bernie Sanders Dress

As reported, jam titans Phish kicked off Summer Tour with a barnburner filled with bust outs last night at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota. There were many changes in store for the quartet’s stage show as not only did drummer Jon Fishman unveil a new politically-charged dress, but the band was augmented by a radically different light rig featuring LED panels.

Fish’s new dress looks similar to his trademark frock yet includes images of presidential candidate Bernie Sanders’ head instead of the familiar donuts. The drummer spent much of the early part of the year stumping for Sanders who was the Mayor of Burlington during Phish’s early days. Check out an image of the dress:

Phish’s new lighting rig includes LED panels surrounding the band on the stage itself as well as panels that move stacked above the stage. This video captured by Madpicken shows what the new rig is all about:

As a bonus watch Madpicken’s footage of the blissful end to the “Simple” jam that gave way to the band’s first cover of The Velvet Underground’s “I Found A Reason” since October 31, 1998:
