Phish bassist Mike Gordon is giving away his personal LoveTone Meatball effect pedal to the fan who puts together the most impressive paper airplane flight. Gordon’s “Flying Game” contest comes in celebration of his new album, Flying Games, which comes out this Friday, May 12 via ATO Records/Megaplum.

The bassist utilized the LoveTone Meatball often in the late ’90s. “This is a funk machine of the envelope filter variety (think duck quacking) and it’s a particular model that I used a lot in Phish for many years!” wrote Gordon in announcing the contest on Instagram. “For example, I always use it to get the quackiness started in the middle section of ‘Free’.”

Entrants should make a paper airplane out of a folded 8.5” by 11″ piece of paper with Gordon providing a template to help that part of the process. Then, capture a video featuring your paper airplane in flight. Upload the resulting video to your Instagram account using the hashtag #flyinggames and tag @Mike_Gordon. Share as many videos as you’d like by the end of the day next Tuesday, May 16.

“The winning video might be of the plane that flew the farthest, it might be the plane that’s flown with the most style…the main thing is to have fun with it,” Mike Gordon explained. The winner will be picked next Friday, May 19.
