Watch Phish’s Mike Gordon Join Karina Rykman At Nectar’s: Pro-Shot Video

As previously reported, Phish bassist Mike Gordon stopped by the familiar confines of Nectar’s in Burlington, Vermont to sit-in with fellow bassist Karina Rykman and her band last Saturday night. Pro-shot video of the collaboration was shared by Rykman.

Rykman’s concert at Nectar’s was part of her ongoing tour of the Northeast with her bandmates, guitarist Adam November and drummer Chris Corsico. Phish and Gordon performed at Nectar’s frequently in the 1980s and the band titled their 1992 album, A Picture Of Nectar after the venue’s owner Nector Rorris, whose image appeared on the cover art.

“[T]hat was one of the most epic shows we’ve ever played, and it’s thanks to all of YOU!,” Rykman wrote after the show. “And Mike Gordon for ripping ‘City Kids’ with us! And H3adgear for opening the night! And everyone at Nectar’s for their exceptional hospitality! I’m overwhelmed with gratitude.”

Rykman posted official footage of Gordon adding a second bass to Rykman’s original “City Kids.” A few minutes into the song, which Rykman released as a single in 2020, Rykman said “I’ll be right back” and left the stage as Gordon emerged. Rykman then came back out to lay down double bass action with Gordon.
