Bassist Mike Gordon followed his performance with Phish on Friday at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado by heading to nearby Cervantes in Denver to sit-in with The Phunk Sessions all-star group. Gordon joined his solo band mate, keyboardist Robert Walter on a cover of Little Feat’s “Spanish Moon.”
The Phunk Sessions also featured The Motet’s Lyle Divinsky, Joey Porter, Drew Sayers and Parris Fleming, Turkuaz’s Shira Elias, Craig Brodhead and Michelangelo Carubba. The Meters’ George Porter Jr. was also part of the collaborative set but was replaced by Mike during his sit-in.
Phish has covered “Spanish Moon” twice, once on Halloween as part of the 2010 Waiting For Columbus set and again earlier this year in Mexico. Mike’s solo band covered the Little Feat classic back in 2008. Watch the entire performance via Live For Live Music below (Mike joins around 58:00):
