Phish Announces New Studio Album ‘Evolve’ & Shares Title Track Single

Phish will release their 16th studio album, Evolve, on July 12 via ATO Records/JEMP Records. The quartet previewed the follow-up to 2020’s Sigma Oasis by unveiling its title track single.

Produced by longtime collaborators Bryce Goggin and Vance Powell, Evolve was recorded earlier this year. Powell first revealed a new Phish album was in the works during an interview with Americana Highways published last December and said it would be recorded in Vermont.

Few details of Evolve have been announced as of press time outside audio of the title track and the release date. Pre-order details are “coming soon” as per a note accompanying “Evolve” on YouTube.

Penned by Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio along with longtime songwriting partners Tom Marshall and Scott Herman, “Evolve” was initially unveiled by Anastasio in April of 2020 during the peak of the pandemic. A studio version appeared the following July on the guitarist’s solo album, Lonely Trip.

Phish debuted “Evolve” live on August 4, 2021 at Ascend Amphitheater in Nashville. Twelve additional performances of the song followed through February 23, 2024 in Mexico at the band’s Phish: Riviera Maya 2024 destination event.

Phish returns to the stage April 18 for the first of four shows at the Sphere in Las Vegas. Livestreams are available for purchase via LivePhish.com. An extensive summer tour begins on July 19 at Xfinity Center in Mansfield, Massachusetts.
