Phil RAD | Lesh & Joe Russos Almost Dead New Years Run

By Scott Bernstein Oct 19, 2014 6:30 am PDT

We’re not the only ones who have taken notice of the raw, primal spin Joe Russo’s Almost Dead puts on their interpretations of the Grateful Dead. Bassist Phil Lesh is also a fan and will end 2014 and ring in 2015 at a venue he’s become very familiar with this year -The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York -for what’s been dubbed “PhilRad.” This marks Lesh’s first New Year’s Eve performing on the East Coast since way back in 1969.

Phil Lesh will team with Joe Russo’s Almost Dead at The Cap on December 30 and 31. The upcoming performances are presumably part of the deal Phil struck with impresario Peter Shapiro, who owns The Cap as well as other venues including the Brooklyn Bowl outpost in Las Vegas.

The announcement of the shows was made during Saturday night’s Phil Lesh & Friends show. Lesh will perform with JRAD and you can expect the group’s regular bassist, Dave Dreiwitz, to fill a number of roles throughout the shows.

Tickets go on sale this Friday, October 24 at noon ET via Ticketfly.
