Last night, Phil Lesh and The Terrapin Family Band performed the second night of three nights at The Fox Theatre in Boulder, Colorado. Featuring Phil joined by Ross James, Grahame Lesh, Alex Koford and Jason Crosby, the band played a varied set including a pair of original songs.
Phil Lesh and The Terrapin Family Band opened with The Velvet Underground’s “Sweet Jane,” wasting no time getting into the mood for Saturday night. “Althea” came next, delighting the crowd, before Phil Lesh took on vocals for “Broken Arrow.” Then “Bertha” got people moving, followed by “Brotherly Love,” a Ross James original. The band then kicked into The Grateful Dead’s 1969 classic “China Cat Sunflower” before playing another James original, “El Paso,” and closing the set with “Born Cross Eyed.”
“New Minglewood Blues” opened the second set followed by the quintessential Phil Lesh vehicle, “Shakedown Street” and the band kept the tempo going with “Samson & Delilah.” The one-two-punch of “Help On The Way” and “Slipknot!” gave way to “The Wheel” featuring all band members on vocals. And a fitting “Terrapin Station” came next, followed by “Morning Dew” with Alex Koford on vocals. “I Know You Rider” came next along with “Bird Song” and the end of the “Slipknot!” > “Franklin’s Tower” pairing.
For the encore, the band covered “The Weight” by The Band and said farewell with “Ripple” to conclude the second of three nights at The Fox in Boulder, Colorado.
