Phil Lesh & Friends To Honor 1971 Grateful Dead

In honor of the Grateful Dead’s 50th anniversary, Phil Lesh will perform Phil Lesh & Friends shows at his Terrapin Crossroads venue in San Rafael for each of the years the band was in action. On the same day that Lesh and his latest ensemble honored 1970, the venue announced the lineup, date and details for the 1971 tribute.

Phil Lesh & Friends featuring Phil joined by guitarists Stu Allen and Scott Metzger, keyboardist Jason Crosby and drummer Jay Lane will celebrate 1971 Grateful Dead at Terrapin Crossroads on March 1. Tickets cost $79 a piece and the shows are open to those ages 16 and over. Those ducats are currently available at the venue’s box office and online store.

Last night saw Phil team with guitarists Scott Law, Stu Allen and Ross James as well as keyboardist Jason Crosby and drummers Cody Dickinson and Alex Koford to celebrate Grateful Dead 1970 at Terrapin Crossroads. Once again, the night started off with Lesh sharing a bit of a history lesson. The group then performed a quick acoustic set featuring “The Monkey And The Engineer,” “Friend Of The Devil” and “Black Peter” before re-creating the electric show the Grateful Dead performed on May 24, 1970 at Newcastle-Under-Lyme in the U.K. Lesh and his band brought the evening to a close with a three-song encore that included rarities “Walkin’ The Dog” and “Cocaine Blues.”
